The Karsibór Ferns Reserve
The “Karsibór Ferns” Reserve, with an area of almost 38 ha, contains many over 2-metre-high fern species, including by and large, the protected Old World Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis). This reserve is, is thus home to one of the largest Old World Royal Fern clusters in our country. The sporangium-bearing leaves of the Old World Royal Fern gave rise to the Slavonic legend of “the fern flower”. This fern species, however, is now in danger of extinction, and so it is subject to strict protection. Within the Reserve, an educational path has been established.
