Ours is the only marina in Poland which in the summer season 2019 for the 14th time. has received the international Blue Flag award in a row. For the 11th time. Our modern marina also received such an award. - We are constantly trying to raise the standard of our beach and marina says Paweł Sujka, Deputy Mayor of the city. - We're glad to see that this has been appreciated once again. The Blue Flag is awarded in two categories: bathing beaches and marinas meeting the highest criteria in terms of water quality, environmental management, safety and educational and information activities. This prestigious award is granted not only in Europe, but also to beaches in such unusual places as South Africa, the Caribbean, Morocco and New Zealand. The Blue Flag is only granted for one season. History

Świnoujście, which enjoyed international popularity well before the last war, is a relatively “young” city. Its foundation and development were influenced by such factors as location, natural conditions and the political situation in the 18 th Century. Let us go back in time and revive some of the historical events.

Kite Surfing

[start] Surrounded by water and situated at the contact point of the circulating land and sea breezes,  Świnoujście provides wonderful conditions for practising windsurfing and kite-surfing. The Usedom beach near the windmill, and the Warszów district beach (in the Isle of Wolin), both referred to as “spots” in the surfing jargon, have invariably enjoyed a growing popularity among Polish surfers. The best surfing conditions are created by northern, north-eastern and north-western winds. Southern winds, on the other hand, favour Szczecińskie Lake. The opening of borders for car traffic in the Isle of Usedom has considerably facilitated the access to water areas in the German part of the Isle, such as the one in the village of Kamminke, located near Świnoujście. These areas are suitable to practice both windsurfing and kite-surfing. The relatively shallow water...

Szlak kajakowy

Początek szlaku znajduje się w ośrodku wypoczynkowo-wędkarskim “Marina” w Karsiborze. Stąd wpływamy na spokojne wody Zatoki Mulnik, a potem Młyńskiej Toni, czyli na nurt dawnej odnogi Świny, której zachodni wylot uległ najpierw zabagnieniu, a potem został zasypany w czasie budowy Kanału Piastowskiego.

“E-9” International seaside hiking trail

[start]The E-9 Baltic Red Hiking Trail, famous for many years, is, in Świnoujście and the surrounding areas, not of uniform character – it runs partially by the Reservoir, partially by the sea, partially through the forest and partially through the city. The only common denominator is that it almost always runs through peaceful areas. The trail begins by the Świnoujście – Ahlbeck border crossing and soon breaks off from the main, Wojska Polskiego Street, in the direction of the sea. In this way, we travel directly from the crowded and loud border market, to the quiet outlying areas of the city. Here, we will feel almost as if we were in a forest, as building are sparingly visible in this section of the trail. Even if we see buildings, they are usually covered by the surrounding natural vegetation. The trail turns east and soon reaches the first buildings of the Seaside...

A didactic trail

[start]The key geographical location of the Świna river mouth has for a long time determined its trade, economic and military significance. Each new set of inhabitants of this land accentuated its presence there by erecting defence fortifications.  Before Świnoujście became a city and a sea port, the first fortifications around the town were built in the 17 th Century by Albrecht von Wallenstein for effective defence against the Danes and Swedes. The next bulwarks were built here by the Swedes, while the Prussians controlling the city from 1720, only continued the work of their predecessors.  During the Napoleonic wars, new fortifications on both banks of the Świna river were built by the French. In addition, in the middle of the 19 th Century, the port in Świnoujście was surrounded by modern stone fortifications. This was the period of the most intensive expansion of the...

Through islands on foot

[start] The natural, historical and modern features of Świnoujście can be explored by taking a walk along the paths marked up in the Isles of Usedom and Wolin. Walking tours along the seaside promenades in Świnoujście, and in the neighbouring German Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin, will certainly be a pleasurable experience. The picturesque sea location, the scent of sand-dune plants or the ambience of the innumerable seaside cafeterias provide a sufficient incentive. A tour around the seaside districts can also be viewed as an inspiring time travel to the turn of the 19 th Century which marked the flourishing of treatment services, and the rapid development of the Usedom resorts that were frequently visited by the political, intellectual and cultural elites. Indeed, in these times, the Isle of Usedom hosted such prominent figures as Emperor William II, L. Tolstoy, M. Gorki, the...
